Dear Donor,

All I want for Christmas is a better narrow crown stapler, brad nailer, and a decent air hose. Imagine the sets I could build! Oh also, I would love to be able to get the space it's own cordless impact driver and drill. If we had one ourselves, we could stop relying on borrowing tools from the people who works on the sets.

I dream of Santa bringing me a dedicated shop, so we don't have to make the shows that are running clear out the backstage areas we use for building on their days off. If we had the funds, we'd be able to afford to rent shop space to build the rest of the season, making everyone's life a little easier.

Happy Holidays from the shop.

Dave Hastings, Technical Director

Cost Breakdown:

$1,000 in shop tools

$750 renting shop space to build sets (6 weeks x $125)

Dear Donor,

We are committed to paying artists for their work. This season all of our staff is paid hourly. We also were able to move Stage Management and a Theater Apprentice to hourly pay. My winter wish is to be able to move actors from volunteer positions to paid hourly employees. We couldn't do what we do without the artists.

We also love to feed our artists. Whether it is tech-pizza, bagels and coffee for morning rehearsal, or taking a playwright to lunch, feeding people fuels creativity.

Please help me make this Winter Wish come true!

Amy Poisson, Producing Artistic Director

Cost Breakdown:

$4,800 per actor, per show x (6-12 Actors per season)

$250 pizza for technical rehearsals ($25 per person)

$50 bagels and coffee for rehearsals

Letters From Staff to You!

Dear Donor,

On my Winter Wishlist, I wish for money to support next year's Distillery Festival. We got a mind-blowing 753 submissions this year and it will take a holiday miracle for our team of readers to review them all! With this many submissions, we're sure to put together an amazing festival with fresh voices and stories from worldwide. Each $15 gets a play read!

We are also so proud to provide paid work for many artists through the Distillery festival. Having a huge number of actors, directors, and playwrights, all pouring energy into one amazing weekend is truly one of my favorite parts of the festival. I'd be incredibly grateful for your help in paying all these amazing people for the beautiful work they do on Distillery.

I’d love your support in paying Distillery readers!

Leah Jarvik, Literary Manager

Cost Breakdown:

$3,000 to pay readers ($15 per play read x 200 plays)

$2,000 to pay artists ($100 per artist x 20 or more)

Dear Donor,

I would love to continue bringing in writers from around the world and hosting them in Seattle during the Festival. This would help us hear diverse voices that we might not otherwise have a chance to hear! Please help us continue our far-reaching New Works program.

I love commissioning New Works. We are currently supporting a writer/composer for a New Musical about Bessie Coleman. It is set to Premiere at Seattle Public Theater in 2026. Musicals are expensive, and we would love your help in continuing our work. We need money to get this project to its first workshop reading in June 2025. Please help us finance this project.

Please help me make opportunities happen!

Amy Poisson, Producing Artistic Director

Cost Breakdown:

$2,000 to pay for Playwright Travel ($500 up to 4 artists)

$3,000 to commission a New Work.

Dear Donor,

On my winter wish list, I wish to continue partnering with incredible mentors and creatives to support our programs throughout the year. Your donation to the education fund will help us to continue to compensate local artists and students interested in exploring and improving our teen theatre programs.  It also helps us provide lots of snacks to participants as we work to hard to improve our craft and celebrate young artists.

Please help me grow the Education Department!

Indira Rampersad, Education Coordinator

Cost Breakdown:

$1,080 to support youth Advisory ($30 per advisory member (6) x 6 meetings)

$150 to feed the children ($25 per meeting x 6)

$1,270 to pay youth mentors.

Dear Donor,

This winter I wish for the best youth production ever! Theater can be so important when it comes to giving young people a place to express themselves, and your donation can help us continue to give more students that outlet.

I wish for a way to make young people’s voices heard. That sounds like a big ask, but we actually already have a way to do that. It’s called Youth Voices, a program where young people are mentored in the writing of a personal monologue! So, I guess all we really need to make that happen is money…

Please help me make Youth Voices heard.

Cordelia Carranza-McCullough, Theater Apprentice

Cost Breakdown:

$5,000 to support a Youth Production

$2,500 to support the Youth Voices Program.

Thank you for keeping us warm through the winter with your donations, by seeing shows, and by supporting us however you choose.

Happy Holidays!
