Sara Porkalob Teaching Artist
Sara Porkalob is a Seattle-based award winning solo performer, director and arts activist recently recognized on City Art’s 2017 Future List and currently serving as Intiman Theatre’s 2017 Co-Curator. She was most recently seen in Village Theatre’s Pump Boys and Dinettes. Sara has performed at Book-It Repertory Theatre, 5th Avenue Theatre, Taproot Theatre, Artswest, Bumbershoot, Cafe Nordo, and other local venues. In January 2017, her one woman show Madame Dragon’s 60th Birthday Bash premiers at Nordo’s Culinarium and she will begin her residency with Village Theatre as part of their Originals Writers Residency. In February 2017, she will be premiering her new solo show Dragon Baby as part of Seattle Fringe Festival and in March will be directing SQUATCH! The Musical at Centerstage. In June, she will be performing at Village Theatre in STRING and in September, will be performing in King of the Yees at ACT. She is a co-founder of The Demo Site, an independent theatre collective producing intersectional deconstructions of classical theatre canon works and of DeConstruct, an online journal of intersectional performance critique. An Asian-Pacific Islander and fervent intersectional feminist, she is committed to dynamic story-telling, cultural place-making in her community, and the deconstruction of white supremacy in America.
