    Grades 5 - 8
    • Lab session

      Saturday, May 20

      1:00pm – 4:00pm

    Directed by Ciara McCormack

Don’t have time to do a show but want to build your skills? In this workshop, young actors will become familiar with dance as a way to get comfortable in their bodies, communicate, and create art. The afternoon will start with a dance fusion class that will introduce students to the styles of ballet, modern, and jazz. Once warmed up, they will exercise their creative and analytical brains by learning choreography and playing improvisational games. Finally, students will apply their physical knowledge by studying how movement and dance can bring characters to life on stage.

    Written by various local playwrights

We have asked several local hot new playwrights — Kelleen Conway Blanchard, Jesse Glick, Benjamin Benne, Julia Nardin, Seayoung Yim — to write 10 minute plays specifically created for this age group and set in a kitchen (the set of our main stage production of Grand Concourse). Each role is a wonderfully rich lead and will challenge our students to grow and carry the entirety of a full storyline.
